Hi there, hello!


I’m Elena Burger-Guimarães, documentary photographer and videographer living in Melbourne. I love working with people, having adventures and fun! What matters to me most is that I beautifully capture pictures that you will treasure for years.


My photography is about human connection – moments of love, laughter, intimacy, challenge, performance and pride.  

A particular soft spot of mine is family, cultures, discovering what is important to people, and sharing special moments with them.


In 2017 I received an award in the Documentary Family Photography Awards, and previously I have had multiple images awarded in the Aotearoa Home birth Photography competition. I have a Bachelor of Photographic Design (with Honours) from Massey University Wellington, New Zealand.


Natural light. Real unscripted moments. Photographs that capture you how you felt. 


I'm not about intense photoshoots. Or stiff posing. Honestly, I'd rather blend into the background, or be unabashedly walking on my knees to not get in the way! Time with me is a collaboration: hanging out, documenting and creating together. The everyday soul of family, the heart of your wedding day, or the branding for you that shows your values.



I acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land where I work and live and play. I pay my respects to Elders past, present and future. Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
